Wassup with Illa Ghee and Rihanna

jj

The track in question was released on Illa Ghee’s mixtape Myrtle and Throop in 2006 and Rihanna’s “Umbrella” was a featured single on her sophmore album ‘Good Girl Gone Bad’ in 2007.

According to Illa Ghee, “Umbrella” producer Christopher ‘Tricky’ Stewart was handed the pre-release Myrtle and Throop mixtape. The similarities stem from the lyrics where Illa Ghee says, “I, ella, ella, ay” and Rihanna says, “Ella, Ella, Ella, ay”. At the time he was interviewed, Lenny S. of Rocafella/Def Jam Records simply had a, “no comment.” response to questions about the issue.

"Lets get this straight", says Illa Ghee recently. "I have no issues with Rihanna". "I wish her the best, especially after what just happened to her". While Illa has no issues with the troubled R&B singer, he does question the turn of events that led to his signature "I ella, ella, ay" finding its place in her song.

He goes further to say that since the line was so small, he has no issues with either party. He sees this as a compliment to his writing skills. "Its all in the game". He says, If it really went down like the reports say then,"Im a be the bigger man about it". He finishes by saying, Lenny knows he owes him nothing but a "good look" next time Illa Ghee products cross his desk. COMMENT!
